Spring Rock School 2010

During the course pupils will learn & perform two arrangements. one 12 bar blues and one ROCK ballad. The blues piece will be based on a particular subject, but will require all students at some point to take a lead role which must be improvised! The second song will have extended instrumental sections, which als must include aspects of improvisation. During the course pupils will:-

Study various aspects of the blues & 12 bar techinques.

 Watch & get involved in rock improvisation demonstration by your tutors

Be placed into groups & arrange, learn & rehearse your two songs

Get to play music together in a constructive & creative environment

Get to find out how much jamming can be!

Learn how to command the rest of the band when you sense a solo oppourtunity

Perform your songs to a live audience through a professional 10k PA & lighting system.

Push yourself to the limit and rock out on stage in the Rock Factor 'Jam Session'

What level of musical ability is required?

No formal qualification is needed, neither is the ability to read musicGuitarists would need to play basic chord sequences & maybe some leadDrummers would be required to keep a basic beat and basic fillsBassists able to follow a basic grooves of the drums and keep timeVocalists able to sing in tune Bands are required to demonstrate a rock cover of their choice

How much will it cost?

The three-day Autumn school costs £100 this would be paid in advance

How long is each session?

Each day starts at 10pm and finishes 4pm

The Assembly Rooms, High Street, Dedham, Essex, CO7 6DE

What age group is the course syllabus aimed at?

Young people aged from 10 - 20 years

What will I need to bring?

All students will be expected to bring along their own instruments, example guitar & amplifier, drum kit etc...Singers will be provided with a microphone.
